Ultrasound Technology for Cooling Water Treatment
Ultrasound
A
technology which is being developed for cooling water treatment is the
use of Ultrasound or Sonoluminescence.
Ultrasound frequencies operate at greater than 16kHz and when this energy
is applied to water a cavitation process occurs creating high local pressures
and temperatures which result in the emission of light and highly reactive
radicals.
Sonoluminescence has been used as a microbiological control treatment
in cooling water systems and more recently as a total replacement technology
for conventional chemical water treatment programmes.
IIC Limited has direct experience of the application of ultrasound for
cooling water treatment and can therefore support clients who may be interested
in this approach.
